THE 2012 CONCERT SEASON TO OUR SUBSCRIBERS Welcome back for our next series of extraordinary concerts, featuring world-class musicians from near and far. TO THOSE OF YOU JOINING US FOR THE FIRST TIME We are pleased to welcome you to the Phillip T. Young Recital Hall at the University of Victoria's School of Music. The hall's terraced seating, excellent sight lines, and laudable acoustics are perfect for each evening's inspired music making. Now in its seventeenth season, the Victoria Summer Music Festival continues its tradition of presenting fabulous concerts in an intimate setting. To enhance the festival feeling this year, we have artists returning for more than one concert so you can get to know them better and enjoy listening to them in a range of repertoire, playing with different combinations of instruments. Some are old favourites: Gary Karr and Harmon Lewis with Basses Loaded, the Emily Carr String Quartet, and the festival's music director, Arthur Rowe; others are making their first appearance: William Preucil, Eric Kim, Michelle Mares, and the Alcan Quartet. We are also bringing back the popular pre-concert talks we initiated in 2011. Join us at 6:35 on the evenings noted below for a sneak peek at some of the upcoming repertoire. We think you'll find this the perfect complement to our wonderful west coast summer evenings. See you soon! All concerts take place at 7:30 pm in the Phillip T. Young Recital Hall, School of Music, University of Victoria (see map). Parking is available outside the School of Music, with a parking meter conveniently located in the middle of the lot. Please telephone 250-385-8763 if you are disabled and need to be seated at the end of a row or if you require a space for your wheelchair. This will enable us to ensure that you are seated properly as there are a limited number of these seating locations.
